A project by Ben Matheson. The Iditarod checkpoint data may be incomplete. The Iditarod checkpoint and musher data are from Iditarod. This uses d3.js and a ton of preprocessing in R. The horizontal location on the histogram for each musher attemps to capture the rank in which they arrived into the checkpoint, but isn't perfect. This draws some inspiration from the animated histograms of runners in the New York Marathon in the New York Times.
